VIT is headquartered in a 100,000 sq. ft. facility, located on a 36 acre campus just outside of Charlotte, NC. It was custom designed in 1999 to incorporate the specifications and standards for information management and media preservation services.

Our Facility
Security
We maintain around-the-clock security (24/7). Every area of the VIT facility is accessible only by security ID cards. We have cameras in the building's major corridors, loading docks, main lobby and our preservation area. There are only two points of entry into the facility, each monitored by CCTV.
Climate Control
The media vault is climate controlled to ANSI Standards, keeping the air and humidity at a safe, consistent level.
Fire Prevention
The building is equipped with a wet fire suppression system and the network room is protected by a dry FM200 fire suppression system. The facility has a auxillary water tank for support. The walls of the facility provide an eight-hour fire rating from outside fires. Each department has a fire marshal and fire drills are conducted on a regular basis.
Power Loss Protection
A 750-gallon/350kW diesel driven generator and a centralized UPS (uninterruptible power source) system provide the facility with seamless carryover to generator power when needed. We also have surge protection and phase loss devices that protect the facility. All critical areas are tied into both systems.
